After going behind, AS Roma improved their game and created many chances of their own. It seemed that they would draw level, but due to the poor finishing of their forwards, Daniel De Rossi's men had to keep chasing the game as the first half ended 1-0 for the visitors. Just when it felt like the goal was coming for AS Roma, Robert Andrich doubled the lead for Leverkusen with a thunderous strike from long-range midway through the second half.
