The chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan, took oath as the union minister in the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5. The renowned politician appreciated Narendra Modi for showing trust in him and promised the people of India that he would fulfill his duties and roles with utmost honesty and hard work.

Chirag Paswan stated, "This is a huge responsibility for me... I will ensure that I fulfill this responsibility with full honesty and hard work. The credit for this goes to the Prime Minister. He had so much faith in a party with a single MP that he gave it five seats. I have also given them all five seats by winning them."

Chirag Paswan talked about the difference between rich and poor in India and said that he will work very hard for the welfare of the people and that reducing the gap between rich and poor will be his utmost priority. Chirag Paswan said, "In the last 10 years, the government has given priority to schemes related to the welfare of the poor. We will move ahead with that thinking to reduce the difference between the rich and the poor, and villages and towns."

In the recently held Lok Sabha Elections, Chirag Paswan contested for Bihar's Hajipur seat and registered a massive win by more than 1.70 lakh votes over Shiv Chandra Ram, who was representing the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Chirag Paswan was one of eight MPs from Bihar who were inducted into the council by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This move is not without reason, as it is being seen as an attempt by the Bhartiya Janta Party to balance the caste equation before the assembly elections that will be held next year.

It will be interesting to see how Chirag Paswan will play his role as Union Minister in the government of Mr. Narendra Modi.
