Deadpool and Wolverine exist because Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine nine times and retired from the role after 2017's "Logan," loved the Deadpool series and was good friends with its star Ryan Reynolds. Jackman wanted to combine this mutant with Wolverine and Deadpool. He thought the pair should star in a film based on friendship, based on his favorite genre. Inspired by this idea, he conceived this new film featuring Wolverine and Deadpool, depicting the friendship and adventure of the two.

Storyline

The final product of this movie is true to the spirit of the franchise, while pushing its self-conscious humor and fourth-wall-breaking genre so far that it all feels like the result of a challenge: How big can one make “honesty” air quotes while still touching the heart? About half an hour into the film, Wade (Deadpool) is sent on a multi-world mission that forces him to team up with Wolverine (don't worry about the reasons; you'll find out when you see the film, which will make a billion dollars regardless of any criticism). The pair wander into a prison-like "Void" ruled by Cassandra Nova (Emma Corwin), the bald, bone-thin twin sister of Charles Xavier.

Positive Points

Many aspects of the film deserve praise. Firstly, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have an exciting chemistry that can be felt by anyone watching. This movie’s friendship and humor raise it even higher. The film stands out from other superhero films due to its fourth wall breaking style and self-conscious humor. The fans of 1980s action films will not hate this one.

Negative Points

Nevertheless, the story may be a weak link in the film. Some audiences may find multi-world mission as too intricate and bewildering to understand easily. Additionally, we do not see much of Cassandra Nova, which makes it a bit incomplete.

Overall

“Deadpool and Wolverine” is an amusing film for those who are fond of it. The fourth wall breaking style plus humor exhibited by Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds makes it unique among superhero movies. Despite some defects in the story, this movie will rock at the box office in any case. Anyone interested in comedy and action would love to watch this movie since it also falls under the genre of superhero films as well.
