Delhi BJP Secretary, Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, highlighted the recent developments surrounding the GNCTD Amendment Act passed by Parliament on August 7, 2023, and subsequently approved by the Hon'ble President on August 12, 2023. In response, Ministers of the AAP government have been vocal in the media, asserting that the Act contradicts the Constitution. Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj even confidently predicted that the Supreme Court would strike down the Act.

The narrative took a turn when Minister Ms. Atishi issued a statement today, creating a contradiction within her stance. While acknowledging the Act's passage through Parliament and expressing respect for it, she also indicated the AAP's legal challenge in court over the same Act.

Ms. Bansuri Swaraj observed that Minister Atishi's statement signaled a potential shift in the AAP's perspective, possibly due to sound legal advice on the amendment's constitutionality and legality. It appears that the party has recognized the need to respect the new law and allow the Delhi administration to function in accordance with the Constitution.

Ms. Swaraj expressed satisfaction that the new law has seemingly provided a resolution, likening it to a "Ram Baan" or an ultimate solution to end the longstanding conflict between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor.

She noted that the AAP's confrontations with the Central Government had resulted in policy paralysis, stagnating the Delhi administration and adversely affecting the people. Ms. Swaraj expressed relief that the AAP appears to have acknowledged the legal deficiencies in their previous stance.

However, she cautiously pointed out that the AAP's track record of U-turn politics raises doubts about the durability of their current cooperative and peaceful approach. Past experiences suggest that the assurances given by the party may be short-lived.

In conclusion, Ms. Bansuri Swaraj emphasized the need for vigilance in observing how long the AAP can sustain their newfound commitment to cooperation and peaceful coexistence, considering their history of shifting positions.
