Dhanteras 2023: Worship Lord Kuber & Goddess Lakshmi For Wealth On Nov 10, Following Specific Puja Steps
Dhanteras 2023

With the approaching festival of Dhanteras, excitement permeates the air as devotees prepare to celebrate the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha. Falling in the Ashvin or Kartika month, this year's Dhanteras is set to grace Friday, November 10, promising a spectacle of grandeur and ceremony across India.

Dhanteras, a term intertwining "wealth" (Dhan) and "thirteenth" (Teras), holds profound significance in Hindu traditions. Devotees seize this occasion to pay homage to Lord Kuber and Goddess Lakshmi, revered deities of prosperity and wealth. The belief is deeply rooted that significant purchases made on this day beckon blessings and prosperity into one's life, inaugurating the illustrious five-day Diwali festival, culminating in Bhai Dooj.

The festivities kick off during the auspicious Pardosh Kaal, dedicated to the worship of Goddess Lakshmi. Rituals commence with the presentation of a new piece of cloth on a raised platform, accompanied by a scattering of grains in the center. A kalash, adorned with gangajal, betel nut, a flower, a coin, mango leaves, and rice grains, takes its place. Over the grains, a lotus is intricately drawn with haldi powder, and the idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha find their position. The ceremony unfolds with the lighting of a lamp and the offering of flowers, haldi, and vermillion.

To Ensure A Harmonious Celebration, Devotees Adhere ToSpecific Steps:

  1. Commence the day with a holy bath.
  2. Conduct a thorough cleaning of the house, giving special attention to the puja room.
  3. Embellish both the interior and exterior of the house.
  4. Install idols of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kuber, and Lord Dhanvantri during the Puja Muhurat.
  5. Perform the puja by illuminating a diya with desi ghee, applying tilak, offering a garland, and presenting sweets.

The propitious time for Dhanteras Puja unfolds during Pradosh Kaal, commencing after dusk and spanning approximately two hours and twenty-four minutes. It is advised to refrain from conducting Dhanteras puja during Choghadiya Muhurta, reserved more for travel. Sthir Lagna, indicating a fixed or immovable time, aligns seamlessly with Pradosh Kaal, rendering it the opportune moment for Lakshmi Puja on Dhanteras. This convergence typically coincides with the vibrant Diwali festivities, ensuring the benevolent presence of Lakshmiji in households.

In essence, Dhanteras embodies a harmonious blend of tradition and faith, beckoning devotees to immerse themselves in these ritualistic steps and invite the prosperity and blessings associated with this joyous occasion into their lives.
