The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) regularly hosts the Divya Kala Mela, a unique event aimed at showcasing the talents and products of Divyang entrepreneurs and artisans from all over India. In the ongoing effort to empower Divyang entrepreneurs, the Divya Kala Mela is scheduled to take place from October 27th to November 5th, 2023, at the HMT Ground on Jalahalli Main Road in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The inauguration of this event, which is dedicated to promoting the economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) or Divyangjan, will be led by the Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri A. Narayanaswamy, and the Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Km. Pratima Bhoumik, on October 27th at 6.00 PM. Several other dignitaries are also expected to grace the occasion.

The Divya Kala Mela promises to be a vibrant and captivating experience for visitors, as it will feature a wide range of products from different regions of India, including Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states. About 100 Divyang artisans, artists, and entrepreneurs from 20 states and union territories will be showcasing their products and skills in Bengaluru. These products will fall under various categories, such as home decor, clothing, stationery, eco-friendly items, packaged food, organic products, toys, gifts, personal accessories, and paintings. This event provides an excellent opportunity for everyone to support local artisans and purchase unique products crafted with determination by Divyang individuals.

The 10-day event will be open from 10.00 AM to 10.00 PM and will also feature a series of cultural activities, including performances by Divyangjan artists and well-known professionals. In addition to exploring the diverse handicrafts and products on display, visitors can savor delicious cuisine from various parts of the country.

The Divya Kala Mela is a remarkable initiative by the DEPwD to promote economic empowerment for Persons with Disabilities. It serves as a substantial platform for marketing and showcasing the talents and products of Divyang entrepreneurs. The Bengaluru edition is the ninth in a series that began in 2022 and is part of a larger plan to promote this concept nationwide. In the coming year (2023-2024), the event is scheduled to be organized in 12 different cities across India, further extending its impact and support for Divyang individuals and their entrepreneurial endeavors.
