Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly instructed his ministers to refrain from commenting on the ongoing "Bharat-India" political controversy, which has dominated headlines for nearly two days. This marks the first instance where PM Modi directly addressed the matter with his ministers during a Council of Ministers meeting, where discussions on various issues, including the G20, took place.

Over the past 24 hours, the opposition has convened two meetings to strategize their approach to this issue. Earlier today, former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi sent a letter to PM Modi, proposing a list of nine subjects for discussion during the upcoming special session of parliament scheduled to commence on September 18. The government responded by suggesting that Mrs. Gandhi was neglecting tradition, which dictates that the agenda need not be decided before the session starts.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi defended this stance, explaining that a meeting among leaders of all parties typically occurs after the President calls the session, but before it formally begins. During this meeting, parliamentary matters and issues to be addressed in the session are usually discussed.

This political feud began when President Droupadi Murmu's invitation to G20 leaders described her as the "President of Bharat," sparking clashes between the opposition and the ruling BJP. Subsequently, a document emerged referring to PM Modi as the "Prime Minister of Bharat."

The opposition accuses the ruling party of using this controversy as a diversionary tactic to deflect attention away from governance issues that have led to problems such as unemployment, poverty, and rising prices. They also argue that this dispute is a consequence of the opposition coalition calling itself "INDIA."

Amid the ongoing political sparring, it has been clarified that the special parliamentary session's primary purpose is to discuss matters related to the G20.

Meanwhile, K Kavitha from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi has questioned why Sonia Gandhi's letter did not include the long-standing demand for the Women's Reservation Bill. Mrs. Gandhi's nine-point agenda covers topics such as center-state relations, communalism, the situation in Manipur, and the border conflict with China.

In summary, the "Bharat-India" political row has prompted Prime Minister Modi to instruct his ministers to abstain from commenting on the issue. The opposition and government are engaged in a heated dispute over the agenda for the special parliamentary session scheduled for September 18, with tensions escalating over the terminology used to describe Indian leaders in international contexts.
