Air India, a Tata Group-owned airline, has made a significant announcement to ease travel for passengers during the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 9 and 10, 2023. Recognizing the potential disruptions and congestion at Delhi International Airport during this period, the airline has decided to offer a one-time waiver in charges for travelers flying to or from the airport between September 7 and September 11.

In anticipation of the G20 Summit, several airlines have either canceled or rescheduled their flights due to expected heavy traffic and security arrangements. Media reports have indicated that nearly 160 flights are set to be canceled between September 8 and 10 at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Air India took to social media, specifically X (formerly known as Twitter), to communicate this generous offer to its passengers. In a tweet, the airline stated, "Important Announcement: There will be travel restrictions in Delhi between 7th and 11th September 2023. As a measure of goodwill, passengers holding confirmed tickets to fly to or from Delhi on these dates are being offered a one-time waiver of applicable charges if they wish to change their date of travel or their flight." The announcement further clarified that passengers opting to reschedule their flights would only need to pay the fare difference, if any. Air India also provided contact information for passenger queries.

The civil aviation ministry had previously instructed airlines to limit the number of flights between September 8 and 10 to create additional parking space for aircraft arriving for the G20 Summit. This directive is part of the preparations to ensure the smooth execution of the event.

Furthermore, the Delhi Police has issued travel advisories and guidelines for road travel to the airport during the G20 Summit. Travelers have been advised to use the Delhi Metro's Airport Express Line for convenient access to Terminals 2 and 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Additionally, the Magenta Line has been recommended for those traveling to Terminal 1. These measures have been put in place to facilitate hassle-free movement for passengers during the anticipated disruptions.
