The Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad has taken a significant step towards promoting safety and empowering young girls by introducing self-defense training in government schools across the state. The initiative, named the Rani Lakshmi Bai Ata Raksha Parikshikshan (Self Defense) 2023-24 project, is set to begin in the first week of September and is led by Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art.

Grandmaster Bikram S Thapa, the 9th Degree Black Belt General Secretary and CEO of Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art, unveiled the project's details. The primary goal of this endeavor is to bolster the confidence of girls and equip them with vital skills to protect themselves. The initiative seeks to instill a sense of empowerment while providing practical self-defense techniques.

For the project's success, around 1500 trainers with diverse martial arts backgrounds, including Shastrang, Karate, Taekwondo, Kungfu, Kick Boxing, Wushu, Kalarippayattu, Gatka, and Judo, will be appointed as master trainers. These trainers, regardless of their sports backgrounds, will undergo refresher training under Grandmaster Thapa's guidance and play a pivotal role in teaching self-defense techniques to the girls.

The master trainers will visit schools and dedicate 1.30 to 2 hours to impart self-defense skills to the girls.

This initiative's launch in government schools across Haryana is anticipated to foster empowerment, security, and gender equality among young girls. By providing them with essential self-defense abilities, the project aims to cultivate confidence and promote their active engagement in society.

The collaboration between Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad and Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art represents a significant stride towards creating a safer environment for girls in the region. Through this partnership, girls will gain the tools they need to safeguard themselves and triumph over any challenges that come their way.
