India started their 2024 ICC T20 World Cup campaign with an easy and comfortable win over Ireland. India won the toss and decided to bowl first, and that turned out to be the right decision. The Indian bowling attack was just unplayable for Ireland, as they got all out on the score of 96 in just 16 overs. Hardik Pandya turned out to be the most effective bowler, as he picked up three massive wickets by just giving away 27 runs in his 4-over spell.

Jasprit Bumrah was magical as well because Ireland's batsmen had no response to his unplayable bowling. Arshdeep Singh also played a crucial role in the destruction of Ireland's batting lineup by taking two wickets. With the help of such brilliant bowling, India managed to restrict Ireland to just 96 runs. India looked quite comfortable with the bat, as they chased down the target within 13 overs and registered a massive win in their opening game.

India only lost a single wicket during their chase when Virat Kohli got out in what can be called an "unlucky dismissal." The captain Rohit Sharma had a fine start to his campaign, as he scored the only half-century of the game in just 37 overs and played the biggest part in the comfortable chase of India. Rishabh Pant also played a fine inning with 36 runs off 26 bowls.

Just when everything was looking perfect for the team in blue, they suffered a major setback when Rohit Sharma retired because of a shoulder injury. The severity of the injury is still unknown, but the fans will be hoping that Rohit Sharma gets back in action as soon as possible. Rohit Sharma looked to be in great touch, and without him, the chances of India winning their first ICC trophy since 2012 will also take a hit.

Jasprit Bumrah was awarded Man of the Match as he just destroyed Ireland with his amazing bowling. Although India started their campaign with a comfortable win, much more difficult tests await them in the ICC T20 World Cup.
