In the inaugural clash of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, emerged triumphant against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai. Gaikwad's debut as captain witnessed CSK clinching a convincing six-wicket victory over RCB.

CSK's pursuit of 174 runs commenced with Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra launching the innings with an explosive start. While Gaikwad's stint was brief, Ravindra continued to amass runs steadily.
