Mr Shudai Trailer Review: Promising Cast Overshadowed By Weak Storyline And Forced Humor
Karamjit Anmol, Sukhwinder Chahal, Nisha Bano, and others playing supporting roles.
Mr Shudai directed by Harjot Singh is an attempt to mix comedy, drama, and supernatural elements in a movie. It stars Mandy Takhar and Harsimran as the main characters and has Karamjit Anmol, Sukhwinder Chahal, Nisha Bano, and others playing supporting roles. Despite having an alluring cast lineup coupled with a captivating idea for the film’s plot, it struggles to establish itself as a compelling story.
Storyline
The character of Harsimran acts as the storyline. Catalepsy makes him exist in eight different lives where he interacts with ghosts who are seeking their last wishes. This concept is good enough for both comic relief and emotional moments. For example, Mandy Takhar plays a cop in her career for the first time, therefore giving the film some action sequences.
Positive Points
The only one thing that can be said about the movie is its actors’ performance. His effort to play various characters deserves applause because he tries to imitate even ghostly behavior and facial expressions of the actor who portrays them. Another high spot is Mandy Takhar’s role as a police officer notwithstanding her initial misgivings about her weightiness.
Negative Points
Regrettably, the film is not executed well enough. Nevertheless, its storyline though an original concept was poorly developed and hard to follow. The narrative is incoherent with multiple leaps from one life of Harsimran to another with no proper explanation or depth as a result. This lack of cohesion makes it difficult for the audience to relate to the characters and their situations.

Overall
Over and above this, the comedy which is a trademark of Punjabi cinema comes across as being unnatural and unauthentic. The jokes are repetitive and often dull instead of evoking genuine laughter; they can be downright embarrassing at times. Given that these comedic actors have demonstrated they can do much better material than this, it is all the more disappointing. Altogether, Though billed as a comedy-drama with supernatural elements, “Mr Shudai” ultimately fails to deliver on its promise. A weak storyline coupled with poor comic writing.
