After securing the majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections with the help of the NDA Alliance, Narendra Modi took the oath as Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time. For the first time as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will head a coalition government after 10 years of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule.

Narendra Modi took the oath along with 72 other ministers of the new coalition government. Thirty of these ministers were cabinet ministers, five independents, and 36 ministers of state. After the BJP emerged as the single biggest party in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Narendra Modi made history by becoming the first Prime Minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected Prime Minister three times in a row.

The Oath of the Prime Minister was administered by President Droupadi Murmu. Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, and Amit Shah were next in line to take their respective oaths. Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, and Manohar Lal Khattar followed in kind in taking their oaths.
