The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has been honored with the 7th position in the All India Clean City Rankings and recognized as the cleanest city within the Union Territory (>1 Lakh Category) in the Swachh Survekshan 2023. The prestigious awards, including a 5 Star Garbage Free City Ranking and Water Plus Certified City, were presented in a ceremony held in New Delhi by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. The awards were handed over by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and Hon’ble Minister of MOUHA Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, in the presence of various dignitaries, Chief Ministers, Urban Development Ministers, Mayors, and officials from across the country.

Representatives of NDMC, including Chairperson Shri Amit Yadav, Secretary Shri Krishna Mohan Uppu, and others, received the awards. The recognition highlights NDMC's commitment to excellence in service standards and providing top-notch civic amenities to residents. Shri Amit Yadav, Chairperson of NDMC, credited the entire team for their hard work, acknowledging the contributions of safari sevaks and expressing a commitment to further improvement.

Notably, NDMC has progressed from the 9th rank to the 7th rank since the previous year and aims to be in the top three cities in the coming year. The award aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a Garbage Free India under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0, focusing on 'Waste to Wealth for Garbage Free Cities' in the 8th edition of Swachh Survekshan.

NDMC extended gratitude to residents and visitors for their role in making it the cleanest capital city within the Union Territory. The accolade reflects NDMC's holistic approach to waste management, public awareness campaigns, and innovative initiatives contributing to overall cleanliness. The council emphasized its dedication to maintaining high standards in urban sanitation and expressed commitment to further initiatives for the well-being of residents.
