This includes roadshows held in four big cities of India, such as in Mumbai on 13 January.
The 8th edition of the Penang Roadshow to India 2025 indeed saw the delight of the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau as it was conducted from January 13th till 20th. Since 2017, the event has been conducted consecutively each year without stoppage and turned virtual during the pandemic of COVID-19. Aims at enhancing Penang's relations with the most important tourism and business events market, the 2025 edition is themed "Discover Penang."
This includes roadshows held in four big cities of India, such as in Mumbai on 13 January; New Delhi, on 15 January; Kolkata, on 17 January; and Chennai on 20 January. All places accommodate 200 buyers and 30 media persons. Another milestone is on 15 January at New Delhi where PCEB and EMT sign their MOU. The two organizations want to further take Penang up the preference lists of Indian tourists through combined efforts at campaigning and activities to increase cultural interaction and economic progress.

A game-changer on the 2025 roadshow is IndiGo Airlines' direct connectivity between Penang and Chennai. The new route simplifies travel and is a vital hub that provides easy access to Penang from 32 domestic cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. The flight also has a baggage allowance of 30kg.
Malaysia has also been extending visa exemptions for Indian nationals up to 31 December, 2026. Indian visitors can now get a visa-free stay of up to 30 days. This would ease entry into the country and make it an attractive destination for Penang.
The roadshow features exhibitors from Malaysia, including Tourism Malaysia, IndiGo Airlines, and other hospitality and travel organizations. Malaysia received more than 1 million Indian visitors by November 2024, growing 71.7% from 2023, making it one of the world's top destinations.
In 2024, Penang hosted 1,900 events and attracted nearly 300,000 delegates, which contributed to RM1.27 billion in economic impact. Penang is going to be one of the prime destinations for Indian tourists and stakeholders as it promises further collaboration and growth.
