The Punjab Kings kicked off their IPL 2024 campaign with a convincing four-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals at the new Mullanpur Stadium. Chasing a target of 175 set by Rishabh Pant's side, Punjab's chase was ignited by an aggressive start from Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow, who unleashed a flurry of boundaries in the powerplay.
However, Ishant Sharma struck back for Delhi, dismissing both openers before being sidelined due to injury. Despite this setback, Prabhsimran Singh and Sam Curran steadied Punjab's innings, only to fall victim to Kuldeep Yadav's bowling, keeping Delhi in contention.
