A recent video featuring renowned Pakistani playback singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has surfaced, revealing an altercation between the artist and one of his students. In the footage posted on X, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is seen purportedly assaulting a man, whom he identified as his disciple, over an apparent disagreement regarding a bottle.
The video captures the singer aggressively confronting the man, using his shoe to strike and slap him while questioning him about the missing bottle. The distressed student pleads with the singer, expressing his lack of knowledge about the situation. Despite the intensity of the altercation, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan downplayed the incident, dismissing it as a private matter between a teacher and a student.
Following the circulation of the video, the singer released a clarification video on a microblogging site. In the video, both Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and the man who was subjected to the assault attempt to diffuse the situation. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan justified his actions by attributing them to the unique mentor-disciple relationship, stating that expressing love and appreciation for a disciple's achievements is a part of their dynamic. He also emphasized that consequences are inevitable if a disciple transgresses.

Moreover, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan claimed to have apologized to the man after the incident. The student, in turn, asserted that there was no malicious intent behind the singer's actions, describing their relationship as one of deep respect and affection. According to the student, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is like a father figure who genuinely cares for his disciples. The man in the video explained that the entire incident revolved around a misplaced bottle containing holy water.
Both Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his student accused an unidentified individual of attempting to tarnish the singer's reputation by spreading the video. Despite the controversy, they portrayed the incident as a familial matter, attempting to mitigate any negative fallout from the altercation.
