Delhi Capitals' captain, Rishabh Pant, wrote his name in the history books of IPL history, becoming the first ever Delhi Capitals player to cross the 3,000-run mark during the recent match versus the Lucknow Super Giants. It's a stunning achievement of which the 26-year-old Indian wicketkeeper should be proud. However, Rishabh Pant's stunning achievement was somewhat overshadowed by looming disciplinary issues.

Rishabh Pant finds himself very close to facing a ban in the 2024 IPL season because of repeated breaches of the code of conduct. The breach is mainly about Delhi Capital's slow overrate. Rishabh Pant has already received two fines for tardy overrates, with a third violation threatening the DC captain to sideline him for a game.

In the encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants, DC was teetering on the brink of a slow-over-rate penalty until the 16th over. However, they managed to overturn the situation by swiftly adapting their tactics. IPL put field restrictions on the team that didn't maintain the over rate, but DC had five fielders fielding outside the inner circle, suggesting that the Delhi Capitals made up for the lost overs.

IPL regulations state that teams failing to maintain the required overrate during a match face penalties. Along with the mentioned field restrictions, a fine of Rs 12 lakh is imposed on the captain for the first offense, with the following breaches leading to doubling the penalty to Rs 24 lakh and extending it to all the players in the starting XI.

When an IPL team repeats the offense for the third time, the punishment gets worse. The captain's fine goes up to Rs 30 lakh, and he also gets banned from playing one match. Rishabh Pant was important in Delhi Capital's recent win against the Lucknow Super Giants. He scored 41 runs, showing how much he helps the team. and also highlighting the setbacks the Delhi Capitals might face if he gets banned,

Rishabh Pant's individual brilliance and leadership on the field have been on full display this IPL season. He has scored consistently considering that he came back after such a long time due to his recovery from his horrible car accident. Along with Rishabh Pant, debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk also made an instant impact, notching up a blistering 55 runs off just 35 balls, contributing to DC's second victory of the campaign.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most difficult club competition in the cricketing world, and with difficult matches coming up against teams like the Gujarat Titans, Pant and his team need to stay focused on performing well and not repeat their past mistakes of breaching the code of conduct.

As the exciting IPL season continues, fans will be waiting to see how Rishabh Pant and the Delhi Capitals perform and if they can stick to the rules of the game. Even though Pant reaching 3,000 IPL runs is a big achievement, the risk of getting banned is a reminder that discipline is crucial in such a competitive environment.
