Chandigarh: The Rotary Club Chandigarh Central is set to host an impactful event, a free mega prosthetic hand and legs camp, scheduled for September 17, 2023. The camp will take place at the New Grain Market in Sector 39, Chandigarh, guided by the vision of Satnam Singh Sandhu, the founder of Chandigarh Welfare Trust. This endeavor is particularly significant as it aligns with the celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.

Rtn Sunil Kansal, the President of Rotary Club Chandigarh Central, shared that over the past two years, the club has successfully organized numerous similar camps, providing prosthetic hands and legs to nearly 2000 beneficiaries. These interventions have significantly enhanced the quality of life for recipients, enabling them to engage in daily tasks with greater ease. Notably, the prosthetic hands have been sourced from the United States, while the legs have been manufactured using modern techniques. Rotary Club is committed to offering these essential aids without any financial burden on the recipients.

This initiative is specifically aimed at individuals above the age of 10 and adults who have experienced hand loss due to accidents or other amputation-related reasons. The camp promises to provide lightweight, durable, and functional prosthetic hands that are designed to be worn below the elbow. These prosthetic hands, weighing a mere 400 grams, have the capacity to empower beneficiaries to resume various routine activities. This includes tasks such as using a computer keyboard, eating, handling lightweight objects, writing, and engaging in household chores.
