Sam Pitroda's 'Inheritance Tax' Remarks Leads To A Clash Between Congress And BJP
In response, Congress has said that Sam Pitroda can share his opinion about a topic he is passionate about, but his views are not shared by the Indian National Congress.
Sam Pitroda, the chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, is grabbing headlines for the remarks he made about the "Inheritance Tax." In an interview, Sam Pitroda said," In America, there is an inheritance tax. If one has 100 million USD worth of wealth and, when he dies, can only transfer probably 45 percent to his children, 55 percent is grabbed by the government. That's an interesting law. It says you, in your generation, made wealth, and you are leaving now; you must leave your wealth for the public—not all of it, half of it, which to me sounds fair."
Sam Pitroda has defended himself by saying that his remarks have been twisted to cover up the lies that are being spread by PM Modi about the Congress Manifesto.
It is unfortunate that what I said as an individual on inheritance tax in the US is twisted by Godi media to divert attention from what lies PM is spreading about Congress manifesto. PM’s comments Mangal Sutra & gold snatching is simply unreal. — Sam Pitroda (@sampitroda) April 24, 2024

They have stated that if Congress wins the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, it might redistribute the wealth of the entire country and give reservations to Muslims, potentially taking away opportunities meant for other communities such as SC, ST, and OBCs.

In response, Congress has said that Sam Pitroda can share his opinion about a topic he is passionate about, but his views are not shared by the Indian National Congress. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared his views on the remarks in his post on X and stated that Sam Pitroda's views do not reflect the position of the congress party and spreading these remarks out of context is a desperate attempt from BJP to cover up Narendra Modi's malicious election campaign.
