To further boost this segment, Samsung aims to accelerate its growth trajectory through an aggressive pricing strategy and faster rollout. The company recently unveiled its latest offerings, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5, with competitive pricing in the United States. The clamshell Galaxy Z Flip5 starts at $999.99, while the wider Galaxy Z Fold5 starts at $1,799.99, maintaining the launch prices of the previous year's models.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 boasts a thinner design than its predecessor, thanks to an improved hinge, and features a larger 3.4-inch cover screen that enables better interactions and improved selfie capabilities with the top-line main camera. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold5 is lighter and thinner than its predecessor and comes with a larger vapour chamber for enhanced heat management during gaming or multitasking, as well as a 41% thinner stylus. Both models are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets, ensuring top-notch performance.
The early unveiling of these models is seen as a strategic move to keep the spotlight on Samsung's foldable offerings before the release of the next iPhone. The Galaxy Z Fold5 is touted as the most compact fold yet, featuring a Flex Hinge and a 7.6-inch main display with up to 1750 nits brightness. It is IPX8 rated for dust and water resistance, making it more durable. The 3.4-inch 'Flex Window' on the Z Fold5 supports a QWERTY keyboard, adding to its versatility.
