Since Spotify's launch in India, consumption of Punjabi music on the music streaming platform has increased exponentially.

Chandigarh, February 9, 2023: Punjabi music has been a worldwide sensation for some time, transcending linguistic boundaries and reaching not only the diaspora but also fans abroad. Given the significance of the music scene developing in Punjab, Spotify organized a masterclass in Chandigarh for the entire artist community to discuss how to use Spotify to its full potential. Leading figures from the Punjabi music industry, such as Jasmine Sandlas and Jazzy B, Bunty Bains, a songwriter, composer, and producer, and Satvinder Singh Kohli, the founder, and director of Speed Records, were also there to offer their perspectives on the sector.

One of the most widely used musical languages in India, Punjabi singers frequently top hip-hop and pop charts. According to Spotify Wrapped data, the song "Excuses" by AP Dhillon, Intense, and Gurinder Gill had over 19 crore streams in 2022. The album "Moosetape" by the late Sidhu Moose Wala had the highest streams overall, with four of the top ten most streamed songs in India being in Punjabi.

Through informative workshops on Spotify For Artists and panel discussions on the trends in the Punjabi music industry, creating music, and the importance of audio streaming, artists, artist managers, labels, and aggregators got the chance to learn how they may maximize their growth on Spotify.
