Srinagar Smart City Embraces Eco-Friendly Travel With Tata Motors Ultra EV Electric Buses, Featuring Comfort
Tata Motors, the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, has taken a significant step in promoting eco-friendly public transportation by delivering the first batch of advanced Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Srinagar Smart City Limited. This initiative is made possible through TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd, a Tata Motors Group company. These electric buses are part of a larger order, aimed at supplying, maintaining, and operating a total of 100 electric buses in Srinagar and 100 in Jammu. The service agreement spans a substantial 12-year period and is aligned with the objectives of the Jammu & Kashmir Housing and Urban Development Department, which aims to establish a sustainable, environmentally friendly public transport network in Srinagar.
Tata Motors' Ultra EV electric buses are designed to be zero-emission, built with cutting-edge technology, and feature state-of-the-art battery systems. These buses offer a comfortable and convenient mode of intra-city transportation across the city of Srinagar, catering to the needs of both residents and tourists. The electric buses' official launch was celebrated by a distinguished group of individuals, including Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon'ble Lieutenant General of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary of J&K, and Shri Junaid Azim Mattu, Hon'ble Mayor of Srinagar, among others. Their presence signifies the importance of this project in enhancing public transport infrastructure in the region.
Shri Manoj Sinha emphasized the transformative impact of these electric buses on public transportation in Srinagar, lauding them as part of a broader sustainable urban mobility initiative for the city. He expressed his gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, for the unwavering support provided to the Union Territory.
Shri Prashant Goyal, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, J&K, stressed that this project marks a new phase in urban development for J&K and will alleviate traffic congestion in the region.
