Facing a 2-0 deficit in the first leg of the round of 16 matchup, Inter Miami desperately needed a spark. It came in the 52nd minute when defender Nicolas Freire pushed forward and set up winger Gomez. A quick exchange with Suarez just outside the box created space for Messi. The Argentine maestro finished with a cool composure, firing the ball past Nashville's Joe Willis for his first CONCACAF Champions Cup goal.
The veterans weren't done. In dramatic fashion, they combined again for the equalizer in stoppage time. Sergio Busquets, another former Barcelona teammate, sent in a perfect cross that found Suarez soaring above the Nashville defense. The Uruguayan's powerful header gave Willis no chance, securing a valuable 2-2 draw for Inter Miami.
