On Sunday, a significant gathering unfolded at the Punjab BJP office in Sector 37A, Chandigarh, spearheaded by BJP national leader Sukhminder Pal Singh Grewal. The primary topic of discussion revolved around the alleged exclusion of senior leaders from the ongoing list of Punjab BJP candidates. However, this planned meeting faced an unexpected twist as Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar decided to postpone it and shift the venue from the BJP office. This last-minute change left leaders and party workers, who had converged at the office from various parts of Punjab, visibly agitated. Consequently, the meeting was held outside the party office, with BJP leader Grewal taking the opportunity to voice his concerns before the media.

Sukhminder Pal Singh Grewal expressed his frustration, emphasizing that many supporters from all corners of Punjab had joined him for the meeting. He reminded everyone that when the office, from which he was now being denied access, was established, he held the position of BJP Yuva Morcha President and played a pivotal role in its construction. Grewal pointed out the transformation the party had undergone, transitioning from being labeled as a party for businessmen to becoming more accessible to the common people.

He lamented the current situation where Sunil Jakhar, the BJP President, was unwilling to sit in the very office they had collectively built. Grewal also highlighted the irony that he had arranged for a media presence within the BJP office, only for the gathering to be relocated outdoors.

Grewal recalled a time when the party's Delhi organization was weak, and despite challenges, he worked to amplify the BJP's voice. He expressed dissatisfaction with the recent changes in leadership, where old BJP leaders had been sidelined in favor of former Congress members. He also criticized the presence of individuals who had failed to secure tickets in the Congress party but were now joining the BJP with extensive security details, causing disillusionment among party workers.

Despite his decades-long dedication to building the party, Grewal asserted that his motivation was not driven by personal ambition for positions or posts but by a sincere commitment to the party's principles, even extending his efforts to foreign countries. He lamented the situation where those who had contributed significantly to the party's infrastructure found themselves standing outside while newcomers enjoyed access. Furthermore, he raised allegations of financial impropriety during by-elections, which had left a stain on the party's reputation. Sukhminder Pal Singh Grewal's impassioned address conveyed his deep-rooted concern for the BJP's future in Punjab and the need for a more inclusive and transparent approach to party affairs.
