Mittal highlighted the need for the development of the telecommunications component ecosystem in India, stating that it is insufficient to bring sub-systems here and assemble them for cost-effective components
On Monday, the Secretary of Telecommunications, Neeraj Mittal, expressed his admiration for the production of 'excellent' products by small innovative companies. He emphasized the desire to see the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector not only competing for public sector tenders but also thriving in the private sector. Mittal, a top official in the Department of Telecommunications, stated that the government aims to enhance the Production Linked Incentive Scheme, calling for input from small and cottage industries for the improvement of this scheme and the formulation of new, superior plans.
Mittal highlighted the need for the development of the telecommunications component ecosystem in India, stating that it is insufficient to bring sub-systems here and assemble them for cost-effective components. Speaking at the 'India Telecom 2024' international trade expo, Mittal emphasized the necessity of developing a telecommunications component ecosystem in India, asserting that "we need to develop an environment related to telecommunications components in India." He emphasized that the startup environment would become a catalyst for future employment, technology, and manufacturing.

Furthermore, Mittal addressed the challenges faced by MSMEs in terms of bidding and competition with bigger companies. He encouraged the development of an ecosystem where smaller entities could excel in creating innovative products and challenging larger companies in both the public and private telecommunications sectors.
In conclusion, Neeraj Mittal's statements reflect the government's commitment to fostering innovation and competition in the telecommunications sector, with a specific emphasis on empowering MSMEs to play a more significant role in both public and private projects.
