The Textile Sourcing Meet will take place in Delhi in 2023 thanks to a collaboration between SOWTEX, CITI, and BGMEA.

To develop the textile and apparel industry and boost exports, SOWTEX held a Textile Sourcing Roadshow in the Radisson Blu Hotel in the nation's capital, New Delhi, before moving on to Ahmedabad and Surat.

The goal of the Textile Sourcing Roadshows was to increase textile exports into new markets, as well as to take the initiative and provide support to fabric and trim manufacturers to increase textile imports and exports between Bangladesh and India.

As is common knowledge, India's textile exports have increased over the past three years, according to statistics. To increase the sourcing of raw materials from India, SOWTEX has partnered with the 45 billion dollar Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI).

Initiatives by SOWTEX:

SOWTEX is a technology aggregator B2B sourcing platform for fashion and textile materials with over 25000 registered firms, where a community of buyers and suppliers originate from various clusters. The market is set up to facilitate international trade.

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association seeks stable and high-quality raw material supply from India for Bangladesh's ready-made clothing industry. In order to reach this goal, BGMEA is boosting export growth and aiming to reach $100 Bn by 2030. Clothing manufactured from handmade fibres is becoming more popular, trustworthy, and exclusive for fashion. Bangladesh would like to obtain extra high-quality raw materials with a short lead time from a reputable Indian source.

For the first time ever, roadshows on textile sourcing are being held in India.
From February 9 to February 12, 2023, textile roadshows will be held. The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), BGMEA, and SOWTEX have also planned two textile sourcing meetings for DHAKA in 2023. A group of representatives from Bangladesh RMG Industries, along with BGMEA President Farooq Hasan and Vice President Shahidullah Azim, led textile sourcing roadshows in India. During a four day visit of the Textile Sourcing Roadshow in the cities of Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Surat, the BGMEA team had close interactions with leading Indian textile manufacturers.

These textile roadshows were co-hosted by Team SOWTEX and BGMEA and included critical participants from CITI, the Denim Manufacturing Association, SRTEPC, FABEXA, and the Ministry of Textiles, GOI.

On February 9, 2023, in Delhi, the first meeting will be held. On February 10, 2023, in Ahmedabad, and on February 11, 2023, in Surat.

These meetings between Bangladesh and India were a significant step towards developing a strategic alliance to supply premium fabrics and materials to this ambitious export aim and provide $15 billion in raw materials from India over the following three to five years. Sonil Jain, co-founder and CEO of SOWTEX, gave congratulations to all of the attendees.
